Bareos

API credential, entered client by client.

Open-source backup suite for mixed estates. Vigicap reads the backup jobs defined on the director, then the catalogue of runs: how many backups terminated normally, when, and how many restores were carried through. The catalogue attests that a restore happened, not that it covered all the data nor that the result was checked.

What to create in the tool

The access is created in Bareos, not in Vigicap. Vigicap never asks for an administrator's password: it expects an API credential that you create, that you can see, and that you can revoke without us.

Where to generate it

Ce connecteur s'adresse à l'API REST de Bareos (paquet Python « bareos-restapi », à installer et à démarrer séparément : pip install bareos-restapi, puis uvicorn bareos_restapi:app). L'URL demandée est celle de ce service, pas celle du director. Attention : la documentation de Bareos qualifie cette API d'expérimentale et susceptible d'évoluer. Les identifiants sont ceux d'une Console nommée du director (bareos-dir.d/console/), avec un profil limité aux commandes de lecture. L'instance doit présenter un certificat TLS valide et reconnu — placez le service derrière un reverse proxy.

Minimum role

Créez un Console dédié (bareos-dir.d/console/) rattaché à un Profile dont la Command ACL se limite aux commandes de lecture — « status, show, list, llist, .jobs » suffisent à ce connecteur — plutôt que de réutiliser le profil « operator » ou la console par défaut.

What to enter in Vigicap

The exact fields of the connection form, in the order they appear. Values marked “secret” never travel back to the browser: they are encrypted at rest and deleted on disconnection.

The form starts with the instance address, entered separately from the fields below. The public catalogue does not yet publish whether this connector needs one, or what it looks like — so this list is exact about everything else, and silent about that first field.

Per-client routing

The connection is made client by client: one credential per client, entered on that client's record. Nothing is shared between two clients, and disconnecting one leaves the other untouched.
